Donorville, AZ — United Way of Ashford County announces its new name, United Way of Demo County (UWDC). United Way of Ashford County has served not only Ashford County, but portions of Cedar Ridge, Millbrook, and Fairview counties since 1947. The new name reflects all the communities that are served.
United Way called a Stakeholder Meeting on July 10, where partners, donors, volunteers, and supporters gathered to hear the big announcement. Caleb Winsett, 2023–2024 UWDC Board President, said, “It is exciting to share our commitment to reaching every corner of our service area with intentionality, ensuring that our efforts secure the resources necessary for our partner agencies to continue making a profound impact in every community they serve.”
UWDC partner agencies are currently providing services in these rural areas. Demo County Community Market sends their mobile market to Millbrook to distribute resources twice per month. Gateway to Prevention and Recovery has clinical and/or prevention offices in Donorville and Millbrook.
United Way of Demo County is excited to announce its affiliation with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Within the next couple of months, families in Millbrook and other rural communities within the UWDC service area will be able to register to receive a high-quality, age-appropriate book mailed to their children monthly at no cost to the family.
